Promode Kumar Saikia
Dr. Promode Kumar Saikia is a retired professor of mathematics from North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, with over three decades of experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. He completed his B.Sc. and M.Sc. at the University of Delhi and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison under Professor Louis Solomon. His research interests lie primarily in number theory and p-adic analysis. Known for his clarity of exposition, Dr. Saikia consistently emphasized problem-solving as the core of mathematical understanding, guiding students to engage deeply with ideas rather than procedures alone. Even after retirement, he remains intellectually active and committed to nurturing a thoughtful appreciation of mathematics among learners.
